Wine & Village: An Evening of Motherhood, Conversation & Community

There’s something incredibly refreshing about finding yourself in a room full of women who are all navigating a similar season of life.

On Tuesday evening, I stepped away from the laptop, the flowers, and bedtime routines to attend Wine & Village, a beautifully thoughtful event created by lovely Katie, for local mums to come together, connect, network, and simply enjoy a few uninterrupted hours in lovely company. And honestly, it felt so needed.

Set amongst candlelight, rustic wooden tables, and the warmest atmosphere, the evening was centred around wine tasting, delicious grazing boards, and conversation that flowed as easily as the wine itself. The setting was intimate and relaxed, located at The Forge in Bristol, a beautiful event space I have had the pleasure of working at before. It was one of those evenings where nobody needed to pretend they had it all together. There was something incredibly comforting about that.

As someone currently finding her footing between motherhood and returning to work, evenings like this feel especially important. Since having my baby boy, I’ve found that conversations around business, creativity, ambition, and motherhood suddenly hold a different weight. There’s a softness to them now. A new understanding. You realise how many women are quietly juggling so much behind the scenes.

One of the things I loved most about Wine & Village was how naturally it brought together women from completely different industries and backgrounds. Some running businesses, some on maternity leave, some returning to work, some never returning to work, others simply looking to meet people in a similar chapter of life. There was no pressure, no expectations, just a genuine connection.

One of my best pals, and fellow flower gal Izzy of Seed & Stem Floristry, came to the event too, just five weeks after having her beautiful baby girl!

I think motherhood can sometimes feel unexpectedly isolating, particularly when you work for yourself. Your worlds collide overnight. Business meetings become nap schedules, emails are replied to one-handed whilst feeding a baby, and creativity often arrives in fragmented moments rather than long, uninterrupted days. But evenings like this remind you that community matters. That there’s huge comfort in shared experiences and honest conversation.

And perhaps that’s exactly what this new Business & Baby section of the blog is becoming about for me.

Not perfection. Not having all the answers. But documenting this new chapter honestly, the balancing act of growing a business whilst raising a little boy amongst the flowers. Sharing the beautiful parts, the chaotic parts, and all the moments in between.

So thank you to Wine & Village for creating such a welcoming and thoughtful evening. I left feeling inspired, recharged, and reminded of how important it is to make space for connection, especially in seasons where life feels wonderfully full.

I already can’t wait for the next one.
